/ Measuring impact

Youth organizations and youth work specialists do important work and create opportunities for young people to acquire important knowledge, skills and experience. However, it is often not possible to accurately measure or assess the impact of these activities and the value created in society. Yet, this skill is necessary to find recognition, support or even funding for your activities. In order to provide youth organizations with the necessary knowledge and skills, the Estonian National Youth Council started cooperating with four Baltic organizations to implement the Erasmus + project “Baltic: Youth: Impact”.

Our partners are an Estonian impact assessment organization Stories For Impact, the promoters of social entrepreneurship Latvijas Socialas uznemejdarbibas asociacija (Latvia), and Gerais norais pragaras gristas (Lithuania), and the umbrella organization of Latvian youth associations Latvijas Jaunatnes padome Latvia.

The duration of the project is a total of 17 months, from January 2021 to May 2022. The project has four phases:

  1. First, a survey will be conducted in the Baltic States to gain an overview of the extent to which youth organizations and youth-oriented social enterprises assess their impact and how this information is used in their communication. In addition, the best examples of impact assessments will be identified to highlight and learn from others.
  2. In the second phase, a toolkit is created that organizations can use to successfully measure their impact.
  3. Third, a guide will be prepared to help plan and conduct social impact communication more effectively.
  4. In the fourth phase, the results of the project are reviewed and recommendations are made to measure social impact.

To give an overview of the project activities and created materials to youth associations and stakeholders and to motivate them to use them, a seminar for those working in the youth field will be organized in March 2022 in Tallinn.

The project is funded by the Erasmus+ program.
